PURPOSE: An octal Chinese character I/O processing method is provided to classify basic shapes of strokes into 8 patterns, and input or output the Chinese characters based on the classified 8 patterns so that it enables a user to process the Chinese characters although the user does not know a sound or a reference stroke. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of a user selecting the number of the characters, a system displaying the classification input windows corresponding to the number, the user inputting an octal code corresponding to the first stroke of each character, the system displaying the corresponding characters, inputting an octal code corresponding to the second stroke in the case that the system does not search for the character corresponding to the first stroke, repeating the octal code input step with respect to the next stroke, and the user selecting the number among selection number windows in the case that a corresponding character is found.
