PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active matrix liquid crystal display device which is manufactured with an excellent yield, to suppress generation of dielectric breakdown due to static electricity or the like and to provide a method for manufacturing it by reducing charges accumulated on a common electrode in the case the electrification of a substrate occurs in the manufacturing process. SOLUTION: A common electrode 11 and a common electrode signal applying line 8 are formed on a transparent substrate 1 as members with mutually independent shapes. Subsequently, a common electrode signal applying line 12 and a video signal applying line 5 are formed. Then the common electrode 11 and the common electrode signal applying lines 8 and 12 are electrically connected through a connection part 13.
