PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the deformation of both the surface and back sides of a flange concerning the planarity of the flange surface. SOLUTION: A rotary arm is supported on a support shaft erected on a mounting table, having a centering mechanism to be freely rotated and adjust the length of the arm, a first auxiliary bar is provided on the tip of the arm to control its extension length, a second auxiliary bar is provided on the tip of the first auxiliary bar to control its extension length, and an optical displacement sensor is provided on the top of the second auxiliary bar to constitute a measuring device body, which is fitted to an object of measurement via a fixture. The fitting direction of the second auxiliary bar is reversed to alternatively dispose the displacement sensor opposite to the surface or back side of a circular flange surface as an object of measurement, thereby detecting the deformation of the flange surface.
