PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of an optical connector owing to the reduction of the number of parts by providing no attaching member as another body and moreover using no sleeve holder. SOLUTION: In one embodiment, the optical connector is formed as a complete optical connector by mutually butting and connecting two optical adapter members having the entirely same shape and dimension. An optical plug part into which an optical plug is inserted, a plug locking piece for locking the optical plug to an optical plug part and a half slit sleeve housing part for aligning and holding the ferrule of the optical plug are provided in the inner part of the housing of the optical adapter member. Also, a cantilever shaped panel locking piece which is integrally formed with the housing is provided in the side surface of the housing. The optical plugs are mutually connected by the optical connector. In another embodiment, the optical plug is connected to a simple optical plug by using an internal housing and an external housing.
