PURPOSE: An opening and closing apparatus for a portable telephone is provided to improve the convenience of users by opening the cover unit of the potable telephone at an attempt and coupling up the cover unit to the body of the potable telephone stably. CONSTITUTION: A case(10) is inserted and fixed in the body of the potable telephone. An upper cam(40) is placed within the case(10) and includes clearance unit(43), which is protruded the outside of the case(10) and inserted in the cover unit of the potable telephone. A screw-shaped cam surface(42) is formed in the end of the upper cam(40). An under cam(60) moves backward and forward inside the case(10), and includes a screw-shaped cam surface(62) which is opposite to the cam surface(42) of the upper cam(40). A return spring(70) is arranged between the under cam(60) and the cover(80) and biased against the under cam(60). An actuator(20) is inserted via a spring(30) in the guiding hole(43') formed in the clearance unit(43) of the upper cam(40). A pin(50) is pressed from the side of the actuator(20) and able to move along the long groove formed the side of the upper cam(40), and the end of the pin(50) is inserted in the inserting groove formed on the case(10).
