PURPOSE: An electrolyte for lithium secondary batteries is provided to improve life cycle and low temperature characteristics of lithium secondary batteries by preventing surface damage of electrodes due to hydrogen halide and using a non-aqueous organic solvent containing propylene carbonate. CONSTITUTION: The electrolyte is prepared by adding silicon powder to a non-aqueous organic solvent comprising propylene carbonate, wherein the non-aqueous organic solvent is a mixed solution of ethylene carbonate/dimethyl carbonate/propylene carbonate (EC/DMC/PC), ethylene carbonate/ethylmethyl carbonate/propylene carbonate (EC/EMC/PC), or ethylene carbonate/diethyl carbonate/propylene carbonate (EC/DEC/PC), the silicon powder is added to the non-aqueous organic solvent in an amount of 0.01 to 5 wt.%, and the electrolyte comprises a supporting electrolytic salt selected from the group consisting of LiPF6, LiBF4, LiAsF6, LiClO4, CF3SO3Li and a mixture of two or more salts thereof. |
