PURPOSE: A control method is provided to perform a normal wakeup function by automatically searching a next channel, in which an audio signal exists, in the case where no audio signal exists in a registered channel when performing the wakeup function using an on timer of a television. CONSTITUTION: Whether a television power is on or off is judged. If the television power is on, whether a wakeup function is set is judged. If the wakeup function is set, a corresponding wakeup time and a set channel are displayed. Whether a current time is a wakeup time is judged. If a wakeup set time value is identical to a current time value of a timer, the current time is treated as the wakeup time, and tuning of a tuner for searching a previously set channel. Whether a voice exists in the tuned channel is judged. If the voice exists in the tuned channel, a current tuning channel is maintained. If no voice exists in the tuned channel, a next channel is automatically searched. Whether a reset key is inputted is judged. If no reset key is inputted, a wakeup function is continuously maintained using a voice output existing a current selected channel. If the reset key is inputted, the wakeup function is stopped. Whether a time for performing the wakeup function is over a predetermined time is judged. If so, the wakeup function is ended.
