PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inspect the discontinuity of a signal line or the like with a simple operation and with reliability. SOLUTION: First signal line extended in the x direction and provided side by side in the y direction and second signal lines insulated from the first signal lines, extended in the y direction and provided side by side in the x direction are formed on the liquid crystal-side surface of the one transparent substrate out of the transparent substrates placed opposite to each other through liquid crystal. On one end of at least one group of signal lines out of the first and the second signal lines, neighboring signal lines are formed in connection with themselves, and traces showing disconnection of the connected parts are left behind.
