PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide constitution permitting miniaturization and excellent in productivity in a magnetic detecting unit for detecting bi-directional magnetic fields. SOLUTION: A printed board 12 mounted with two magnetic detecting elements (magnetic impedance elements) 10X, 10Y for respectively detecting the unidirectional magnetic field is built in a coil support body 16 wound with a coil 14 for impressing the bias magnetic field to the elements 10X, 10Y. The elements 10X, 10Y are thereby built in the coil 14, and the elements 10X, 10Y are so arranged that the respective magnetic field detecting directions are orthogonal to each other and extend at an angle of 45 deg. to the center axis direction of the coil 14. The whole magnetic detecting unit can be miniaturized by the common use of the bias coil 14 and the arrangement method of the elements 10X, 10Y.
