PURPOSE: An illuminating device allows not to hinder a driver by lighting off all the lamps of an instrument panel except a speedometer. CONSTITUTION: An illuminating device comprises electric power providing members(1,2), relay portions(30), an engine cooling water thermometer lighting lamp(41), an engine revolution indicator lighting lamp(42), a fuel level gage lighting lamp(43), a speedometer lighting lamp(44) and an engine electronic control unit(50). The engine electronic control unit(50) controls the lighting of the engine cooling water thermometer lighting lamp(41), the engine revolution indicator lighting lamp(42), the fuel level gage lighting lamp(43) and the speedometer lighting lamp(44) and relays to light off the lamps(41,42,43) except the speedometer lighting lamp(44) when the speed of the vehicle is faster than a predetermined speed and the gages are in a stable state.
