<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side impact protection device with a specific developing direction. SOLUTION: This invention relates to an inflatable side impact protection device for a vehicle occupant incorporated in a side panel of the vehicle and provided with a gasbag 12, a gas generator 20, and a side panel cover 10. The side impact protection device is characterized by having an upper end piece 24 where the side panel cover 10 terminals the cover at the bottom edge 14 of a window section 13. The packed gasbag 12 is arranged under the end piece 24, and coves the side panel across a large region relative to the side parts of the breast and (or) the pelvis sections of the occupant in its developed state. The end piece 24 is constituted as a flap 28 partitioning a downward-pointed discharge channel 50 for the gasbag 12, at least across the section in slid and opened.</p> |
