PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silent and inexpensive geared hoist to cope with the strong demand that the size of a machine room is reduced or the machine room is omitted in an elevator device. SOLUTION: The installation area of a hoist 21 is minimized, and the engagement noise of gears is reduced by using a hypoid gear 6 to realize the layout that a motor drive shaft 1 is across a sheave shaft 11 to the high-speed stage of a multi-stage reduction gear. As a result, an elevator device small in power consumption and low in noise level is provided. Further, an elevator device small in size of the machine room or having no machine room can be provided at a low cost.
