PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf club head of a wood type which produces a good impact sound even though the golf club head is made of metal. SOLUTION: The golf club head 1 is formed of a main body 9 having a face part 11, crown part 13, sole part 15, heel part 17 and toe part 19 and a neck part 7. When the horizontal distance from a rear end point A to a face part top end point B in a section III-III is defined as W and the horizontal distance from an intersection point C of the front surface of the crown part 13 and a virtual horizontal plane H2 to the furnace part top end point B is defined as W1, (W1/W) is specified to 0.70 to 0.95. When the horizontal distance from the heel part side end point D to the toe part side end point E in the section IV-IV is defined as L and the horizontal distance from the heel part side end point F on the front surface of the main body part 9 upper than the virtual horizontal plane H2 to the to toe part side end point G is defined as L2, the value of (L1/L) is specified to 0.80 to 0.90.
