PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detecting method and its equipment for a jet type drive method capable of definitely detecting a position even for a long distance which otherwise does not allow the positional detection by an automatic tracking apparatus, or even for a curved line or a deflected pipe. SOLUTION: A position is detected by an automatic collimation means 12 using a prism for collimation; when the collimation by the automatic tracking means 12 is not possible, it is switched to the position measuring by 3-axis gyro 4, a gyrodrift and a locator error are compared each other; when the gyrodrift is smaller than the locator error, position measurement by the gyro 4 is performed; and when the gyrodrift is larger than the locator error, then the position measurement by the locator 25 is performed and its value is replaced with a position measurement value by the gyro 4. |
