PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a preparation of a cyclocondensed benzene derivative usable as an antioxidant and/or a radical scavenger in cosmetics or dermatological preparations. SOLUTION: This preparation uses as an antioxidant and/or a radical scavenger in cosmetics, a cyclocondensed benzene derivative expressed by formula I [R1 is H or a 1-12C acyl, R2 is H or 1-12C alkyl, R3 and R4 are each a 1-12C alkyl, R5 and R6 are each H or a 1-12C alkyl, X is -CH2- or -(CH2)2-].
