PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve luminous efficiency by tightly fitting an outside electrode to copy the circumference of an arc tube along it. SOLUTION: This discharge lamp is composed of an arc tube 1, comprising a double tube of which body part contains quartz as a main constituent with a rare gas forming excimer molecules by dielectric barrier discharge filled in its inside an inside electrode 2 having a structure fixing the discharge lamp and made of stainless steel for discharging, a terminal for connecting to an outside electrode, cylindrical metal rods 4 fixing the outside electrode, tap bolts 5 for tapping the outside electrode-fixing metal rods 4, an outside electrode-fixing V-shaped slot part 6 to which the outside electrode is tightly fitted so as to copy the circumference of the arc tube 1 along it by the force of the metal rod 4 for pushing in the outside electrode, a lamp housing 7 formed of an insulation material such as resin, an air-cooled radiation part (fin) 8, a reflecting mirror surface 9 machined (embossed) into a relief form for irregular reflection, and the outside electrode 10 made of a thin metal plate, such as Monel, stainless steel and aluminum.
