PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clear a condition required for superposed projection and to realize a perfect superposition without causing image deviation by making the distortion value of distortion aberration constant within the range of image height used for projection in a projection optical system. SOLUTION: A screen SCR and liquid crystal panels LCD1 and LCD2 are set in parallel with each other, and respective projected images are superposed on the screen SCR by the projection lenses PJL1 and PJL2 corresponding to the panels LCD1 and LCD2. The respective optical axes of the lenses PJL1 and PJL2 are arranged perpendicularly to the screen SCR and the panels LCD1 and LCD2 by leaving space L in-between. By making the positions of the liquid crystal panels with respect to the optical axes of the projection lenses different, the projected images projected from different positions are perfectly aligned. Namely, it is structured in such that the absolute maximum value of the distortion aberration in the vicinity of the wide-angle end of the projection lens and the distortion variation of the image height at respective parts are made small. |
