PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the presence of a disk even when a housing space is narrow by detecting a light projected to the signal recording surface of a disk protruded from the bottom part of a disk housing means positioned by a groove part. SOLUTION: A disk housing means (rack) 3a houses disks 2 in parallel in plural groove parts formed by plural partition plates 11a and 11b. A disk carrying means 4 is moved in the parallel arranging direction A of the disks 2 along a rail 3, and recognizes the address of each disk 2 by detecting a protruding piece 6a formed for each housing groove of the rack 3a by a disk position detector 46 composed of light emitting and receiving elements 15n' and 15m'. A disk presence detector 47 composed of light emitting and receiving elements 15N and 15m is provided in the protruded part 71 of the disk carrying means 4, and the presence of a disk 2 corresponding to an address is detected by a light reflected on the signal recording surface of the half-moon part of the disk 2 protruded downward from the through-hole 18e of the rack 3a.
