PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interphone system, that switches the operation mode of itself in response to electric energy consumed in a home, so as to select an operation mode balanced with the electrical energy at home. SOLUTION: An interphone master set 3 is provided with a display means 5, that displays video information from an interphone slave set 1 having an image pickup means, an interface means 4 that is connected to an electric power detection means 2 that detects a present electrical energy consumed in a home, an electric power consumption setting means 6 that sets an upper limit of the electrical energy consumed at home, and a control means 8 that controls the display mode of a display means 5 for displaying video information, on the basis of the present consumed electrical energy and the upper limit.
