PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the structure so that a liquid crystal display device having excellent display quality and wide viewing angle characteristics can be mass-produced at a low cost in a stable state of the quality. SOLUTION: In the device 100, a liquid crystal layer is held between a pair of substrates 110, 123 facing each other. The liquid crystal layer is divided into a plurality of liquid crystal regions 108 by polymer walls 106 formed on at least one of the substrates 110, 123. The layer thickness of the liquid crystal layer is larger than the height of the polymer walls 106, and liquid crystal molecules in each liquid crystal region 108 are axially symmetrically aligned around the axis perpendicular to the substrates 110, 123. |
