PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent a recording medium from soiling by an image material such as toner and also to excellently maintain the cleaning performance of a cleaning means over a long term while excellently maintaining transfer performance in an image forming device using a contact type transferring means. SOLUTION: This image forming device is provided with an image carrier 1 by which an image is formed and carried and a transferring means 2 to transfer the image on the image carrier 1 to the recording medium 3. In this case, a coating means 4 by which lubricant 7 is applied to the recording medium 3 before rushing into a transfer part between the image carrier 1 and the transferring means 2 is provided. Also, in the state that is possesses a contact transferring member 2a and is provided with the cleaning means 5 to clean the surface of the contact transferring member 2a, a part to apply the lubricant 7 to the side surface of the contact transferring member 2a of the recording medium 3 is used as the coating means 4.
