PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light irradiation device of simple operation capable of increasing illuminance at a center part of an irradiation range, and processing a workpiece in a short time by disposing it at a center of the irradiation range. SOLUTION: In this device, light radiated from a discharge lamp 10 is condensed to a mirror 20, condensed light is radiated to an incidental end of a light guide F disposed on an optical axis of the mirror 20, and light outgoing from an outgoing end of the light guide F is radiated to a subject. In this case, an optical element 40 in which a light incidental surface 41 is formed as an inclined surface diagonally cut to the optical axis of the mirror 20, a protruded conical surface, or a concave conical surface is disposed between the mirror 20 and the incidental end of the light guide F. Otherwise, the incidental end of the light guide F is formed as an inclined surface diagonally cut to the optical axis of the mirror 20, a protruded conical surface, or a concave conical surface.
