A hydrophilic fiber including a thermoplastic resin containing 0.1-1.5 wt.% of a fiber-dressing adheres to the fiber and the fiber-dressing comprises 50-80 wt.% of a polyoxyethylenealkyl ether component (A), 10-40 wt.% of at least one quaternary ammonium salt component (B), and 3-20 wt.% of a polyorganosiloxane component (C) is new. A hydrophilic fiber including a thermoplastics resin containing 0.1-1.5 wt.% of a fiber-dressing that adheres to the fiber and comprises 50-80 wt.% of a polyoxyethylenealkyl ether component (A), 10-40 wt.% of at least one quaternary ammonium salt component (B), and 3-20 wt.% of a polyorganosiloxane component (C). Component A has the formula (1), component B has the formula (2) or (3), and component C has the formula (4). R = 12-30C hydrocarbon, m = 10-50, R<1> and R<2> = alkyl or 5-18C alkenyl, R<2>- and R<6>-R<8> = 1-3C alkyl, R<4> = H, alkyl, or 5-18C alkenyl, R<5> = alkyl- or 7-17C alkenyl, X = 1-3C alkyl or a group represented by H(OA)q, Y = 1-3C alkyl, or a group represented by H(OA')r, A and A' = ethylene or propylene, (OA)q, (OA')2, (OA)l and (OA')m = each a group consisting of an oxyethylene-, oxypropylene repeating structure or a repeating structure with statistically separated oxyethylene and oxypropylene repeating structures or a block repeating structure, q and r = each 2-40, (q+r) = 4- 42, l and m = 0-20, (l+m) = 0-20, y = 2 or 3, R<10>-R<12> = 1-6C alkyl-, phenyl-, benzyl-, or cyclohexyl; z = 200-1000. Independent claims are included for: (1) a fleece obtained from the hydrophilic fibre by (carding) air stream process; (2) a processed product obtained from the fleece; and (3) cleaning rags or cloths obtained from the fleece.
