A container (3) on the charging car carries a set quantity of sealant, which is forced to an annular distributor (4) under pressure. This is located above the opening (2). After delivery, pipework (5) from the container outlet is flushed with water. An Independent claim is included for the casting equipment carrying out the sealing process. Preferred Features: The sealant mass is supplied tangentially to the distributor, and emerges from an annular slot or holes, on the distributor underside, for uniform mass distribution around the circumference. Sealant flows from the container into a dosing vessel (6) constructed for pressurization. After receiving the given quantity for sealing, Compressed is introduced into its top, forcing sealant out. Flushing follows. Water is taken from a flushing tank and withdrawn from the pipework ahead of the distributor, to be returned to the flushing tank. Flushing of the annular distributor takes place as the charging car is filled at the coaling bunker. |
