PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high-compression and high-efficiency engine maintaining rotation of a crankshaft by burning a fuel (especially, a gas fuel) and an oxygen- containing gas in a main chamber and reciprocating a piston inside a cylinder. SOLUTION: This engine has a first auxiliary chamber 10 communicating with a main chamber 1 through a first communication passage 11; a second auxiliary chamber 20 communicating with the main chamber 1 through a second communication passage 21; a flame injection means X forming a mixture in the first auxiliary chamber 10 and igniting it, and injecting flame F formed in the first auxiliary chamber 10 into the main chamber 1 through the first communication passage 11; and a mixture injection means Y forming a mixture M in the second auxiliary chamber 20, and injecting the mixture M formed in the second auxiliary chamber 20 into the main chamber 1 through the second communication passage 21.
