PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the degree of orientation of a raw material alloy powder and to improve permanent magnet properties. SOLUTION: The powder of a raw material alloy for anisotropic rare earth magnet is oriented by a magnetic field. The powder to be used has a particle size distribution where the powder particle diameter D50 and the powder particle diameter D99, measured by a laser particle size distribution meter, are <=4.5 μm and <=15.0 μm, respectively. The magnetic field to be applied is regulated so that the rising rate of magnetic field intensity, (ΔT0/Hmax), within the rising period of the magnetic field intensity becomes >=10 MA/m.sec. The degree of orientation can be improved because the agglomeration of the powder in the initial stage of magnetic field application is inhibited. |
