PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for improving earthquake resistance which enables easy and quick reinforcement of the earthquake resistance of an existing construction, in relation to a method for improving earthquake resistance which is applied to the case of reinforcing the earthquake resistance of the existing construction such as a hospital or an office building, for instance, and others. SOLUTION: A base plate having a large number of stud connectors 11 planted lengthwise is disposed and fixed inside an opening part S formed in an existing construction to be reinforced for earthquake resistance, and inside the base plate, an earthquake-resistant frame 2 having a large number of stud connectors 21 planted on the outer peripheral surface is provided, with a bar arrangement space G left between the earthquake-resistant frame and the base plate. In the bar arrangement space G, axial bars extending in the direction coinciding with the above lengthwise direction and split hoop bars 35 intersecting the axial bars are disposed, and a consolidating material is filled and hardened between the outer peripheral surface of the earthquake-resistant frame and the inner surface of the opening part so that the stud connectors 11 and 21, the axial bars and the split hoop bars 35 are buried therein.
