PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the frequency of a read of display data from a memory and to reduce the power consumption by allowing a frame thinning-out converting circuit to perform conversion into corresponding display data of a frame thinning-out driving method and write them, and sequentially reading necessary display data out of the memory. SOLUTION: Display data of one pixel on a liquid crystal panel are inputted in two-bit parallel. The display data sent sent from a microcomputer 101 to a liquid crystal controller 102 are sent to a frame thinning-out converting circuit 103. The frame thinning-out converting circuit 103 converts the two-bit parallel into to 8-bit parallel data corresponding to a frame gradation method. The converted data are written to the memory 104. When display data are read out of the memory 104 by using the frame thinning-out method, display data needed for a corresponding frame are read out of one pixel, bit by bit. The power consumption can be made less than that of a conventional frame thinning- out method.
