PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the status of a printer by a network system with simple constitution by obtaining the status of the printer and writing it in a common storage area of a server computer that a client computer can refer to. SOLUTION: A print data generation part 3 converts pattern information plotted by an application 2 into printer commands. A spool data management part 4 receives the generated print data and divides it into print data blocks of arbitrary size and issues a data transfer request repeatedly. A data transmission control part 5 receives the data transfer request and parses the print data blocks. A data transmission and reception part 6 controls the transmission of the print data blocks having been parsed and the reception of a printer state status from a printer. An interface control part 7 manages an I/O part. The common storage area 8 stores the printer state status that the system provides.
