PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device having electron sources less liable to aged deterioration in electron emitting characteristic and having brightness less liable to aging changes (age deterioration), and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: This image display device is equipped with an enclosure 5, made up of members including a first substrate 1 and a second substrate 6 spaced therefrom, electron sources disposed on the first substrate 1 in the enclosure 5, and a phosphor film 7 and an acceleration electrode 8, disposed on the second substrate 6. First getters 9 are disposed inside an image displaying area X in the enclosure 5, and second getters 14 insulated from the electron sources and from the acceleration electrode are disposed so as to surround the first getters 9.
