SILVER HALIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC SENSITIVE MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a silver halide photographic sensitive material which improves the lowering of its sensitivity and the deterioration of image quality due to radiation. SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic sensitive material has at least one silver halide emulsion layer on the substrate and contains at least one DIR coupler having a specified group at the active site in at least one layer. The group becomes a development inhibiting compound after release from the active site by color development reaction and the compound is decomposed to a compound which does not substantially affect photographic properties after flowing in a color developing solution. The at least one silver halide emulsion layer contains silver halide grains containing at least one selected from a polyvalent metal atom, its ion, a polyvalent metal atom complex and its ion. The degree of swelling of the silver halide photographic sensitive material in a developing solution is 120-300%.
