PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a structure by suppressing the number of bit rate conversion parts to the minimum and to reduce costs. SOLUTION: This equipment is the data transfer equipment which is provided with rate conversion parts (ADPCM transcorder) 21 and 22 which perform rate conversion of data between radio interface parts 11 to 13 of the specific number and trunk line inter face parts 41 to 43, and which can house plural terminal devices (PHS) that can transmit/receive the plural data different in data rates. Here, the device is equipped with a switch part (a time switch part) 3 in which the number of the rate conversion parts 21 and 22 are set to a smaller number than the specific number and the data needing the rate conversion are transmitted to the rate conversion parts 21 and 22, the rate converted data are transmitted to and the data which do not need rate conversion not through the rate conversion parts 21 and 22 as they are transmitted to the corresponding radio interface part or the trunk line interface part between the radio interface parts 11 to 13 and the trunk line interface parts 41 to 43.
