<p>A plastic tool pocket (14) mounts to tool storage chain (13) in a machining center (10). The tools (12) all have a hollow, tapered tool shank (16), which fits into tool pocket (14). The hollow tool shank (16) has an internal relief and retention groove (21) for securing the tool shank (16) with a machine spindle (11). The tool pocket (14) has central support shaft (27), having a circular spring ring (36) loosely fitted into an annular clearance groove (34). When the tool shank (16) slides over the support shaft (27), the circular ring first deflects radially into the clearance groove (34), then pops out into the retention groove (21), to hold the tool shank in position.</p> |
