PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting method by which the surface crack can be reduced even in the case of casting high carbon steel at a high speed. SOLUTION: In the continuous casting method in which molten steel is supplied into a mold from an immersion tube, the kind of steel contains 0.3-2.0 wt.% C, 0.15-3.5 wt.% Si and 0.0001-0.2 wt.% V, and casting speed is made to >=1.0 m/min. Further, the min. value or solidified shell thickness at a depth of 400 mm from the meniscus in the mold is made to >=10 mm, and the difference between the max. value and the min. value of the solidified shell thickness in the same horizontal cross section is made to <=5 mm.
