PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner adaptable even to a case exceeding a usually estimated use state such that a fan starting threshold value does not reach a sensor output value even if a user performs high sensitivity setting when the sensor output value is extremely samll even if a pollutant in air is detected by a pollutant sensor. SOLUTION: In an air cleaner 11 having a sensitivity regulating operation part 7 and a pollutant sensor 8 (pollutant detection means) detecting a pollutant in air and regulating a threshold value for starting air cleaning operation corresponding to the sensitivity selected by the sensitivity regulating operation part 7 and starting air cleaning operation when the output value of the pollutant sensor 8 exceeds the threshold value, if air cleaning operation is not perfomred for a constant time when high sensitivity is selected by the sensitivity regulating operation part 7, the threshold value is lowered.
