PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ventilator for a building capable of automatic control of air circulation without generating noise. SOLUTION: The main body 10 of a ventilator mounted on a sash door opening or closing a window has, as in the case of a conventional structure, a ventilating passage 14. A ventilating opening 11x for the air passage 14 to communicate with the indoors is opened or closed by an operating plate 13, and the operating plate 13 forming a part of the main body 10 is attached with the upper edge part of a flexible sheet 21 formed out of cloth such as synthetic fabric. The sheet 21 hands down when a difference in atmospheric air pressure between the indoors and the outdoors is zero to open the air passage 14 and, when the sheet is blown by a gale, it sways before the wind moves to the indoor side and closes the air passage 14. It is thus possible to prevent a gale from blowing into the indoors and blocks the invasion of rain drops, dust, or the like.
