PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flame retarding resin composition excellent in mechanical characteristics and extruding processability without generating harmful gases and harmful materials during burning and useful for insulated wires by making the composition contain an olefin-based resin, magnesium hydroxide, zinc stannate and a polyfunctional monomer in each a specific ratio. SOLUTION: This flame retardant resin composition comprises a mixture consisting of 100 pts.wt. of (A) an olefin-based resin such as an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer or the like, 80-130 pts.wt. of (B) magnesium hydroxide as a flame retardant and 20-100 pts.wt. of (C) zinc stannate as a flame retardant and contains a proper amount of a polyfunctional monomer as a cross-linking assistance having several free radical-generating functional groups. The polyfunctional monomer is preferably a triarylisocyanurate mixed in the range of 2-10 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the ingredient A. The mixed amount of the ingredients B with C is preferably 100-200 pts.wt. in total. |
