PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining a braking start position of a print head, a print head-braking control apparatus and a printer using the apparatus whereby the print head can be stopped at a predetermined position or in a predetermined range in a scanning direction irrespective of an individual difference of printers. SOLUTION: The print head-braking control apparatus of a printer includes a braking part 121 for braking and stopping a print head being moved for scanning in a direction intersecting a feed direction of a print paper, a braking start part 122 for starting the braking part 121 when the print head reaches a braking start position, a deviation-detecting part 127 for detecting a deviationΔX of a stop position Xr from a target stop position Xh of the print head, and a braking start position-correcting part 123 for correcting a temporary braking start position Ki to reduce the deviationΔX. The apparatus can determine the braking start position to stop the print head at a predetermined position or in a predetermined range in a scanning direction irrespective of an individual difference of printers.
