PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earth auger capable of performing efficient excavation according to various types of ground conditions without causing power loss and lowering excavating speed. SOLUTION: This earth auger 1 is formed so that an excavating head 8 with an excavating blade rotatably excavating the ground to be excavated over its cross section, and an auger shaft 6 forming a feeding auger screw 6a for discharging rock and earth chips excavated by the excavating head 8 may be rotatably dropped from a body frame 5 respectively and disposed in series, and is provided with a rotating drive 3 for the excavating head 8 rotatably driving the excavating head 8 and the auger shaft 6 respectively independently, and a rotating drive 2 for the auger shaft 6.
