This invention comprises a silver halide photographic material comprising at least one silver halide emulsion comprising silver halide grains having associated therewith a combination of two or more dyes wherein: (a) a dye having at least one substituent that has a negative charge is present (b) a dye having at least one substituent that has a positive charge is present (c) wherein the wavelength in nanometers (nm) of maximum light absorption of a silver halide emulsion sensitized with the dye having at least one substituent that has a negative charge and the wavelength of maximum light absorption of a silver halide emulsion sensitized with the dye having at least one substituent that has a positive charge differ by at least 5 nm.
