PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the recovery of SS and to obtain a dehydration filtrate low in SS concn. in an apparatus for dehydrating sludge by a multiple disk type dehydrator. SOLUTION: In a sludge dehydrating apparatus equipped with a raw sludge tank 1, a dehydrator 5 having a sludge dehydrating part and a dehydration filtrate receiving part and a means for supplying the sludge in the raw sludge tank 1 to the sludge dehydrating part, the dehydration filtrate receiving part is divided into at least two parts, that is, a low SS filtrate receiving part 6A and a high SS filtrate receiving part 6B and the sludge supply means 11 from the raw sludge tank 1 and the sludge return means 12 to the raw sludge tank 1 communicate with the high SS filtrate receiving part 6B.
