<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide stable desulfurization efficiency and nitrogen oxide removal efficiency with the lapse of time to a gas containing SOx and NOx, sucb as combustion gases and further convert the nitrogen oxides in harmless substances. SOLUTION: An absorbent containing at least a molten carbonate salt is used while being held in, for example, a porous body 1 and a gas 4 containing SOx and NOx to which an oxygen-containing gas may be added based on necessity, are brought into contact with the absorbent 1 while being used to keep the absorbent 1 in oxidizing ambient environments and on the other hand, the absorbent 1 is brought into contact with reductive ambient environments separately from the contact of the oxidizing ambient environments. If the absorbent 1 is brought into contact simultaneously with the oxidizing ambient environments and the reductive ambient environments, the object gas treatment and the carbonate regeneration can simultaneously be carried out and electric power generation is carried out as well as a fuel cell.</p> |
