PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain both a coloring composition useful for color filter excellent in resolving properties, transparency, contrast and color purity and further light fastness, and a color filter. SOLUTION: This coloring composition uses a dyestuff and comprises a titanium oxide sol in an amount of 1-20 wt.% based on 100 wt.% of the dyestuff.
