PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device expanding an air bag at low pressure and extremely small in the quantity of gas leak from a vent hole. SOLUTION: This air bag device has a case 10 disposed along the opening of an instrument panel 84; an air bag 12; an inflator 18; a slider 14 moving along the case 10; and a lid 16 slidable along the upper face of the instrumeFnt panel 84. When the inflator 18 is actuated, a piston 72 in a cylinder 70 advances, the slider 14 moves, and a cutout part 58 retreats from the upper side of the case 10. After the piston 72 and slider 14 move to the advance limit, the lid 16 is moved along the upper face of the instrument panel 84 by moving inertia force. The lid 16 is slightly lifted by a rotating arm and pushed up onto the upper face side of the instrument panel 84. The bottom face of the case 10 is provided with a vent hole 25. |
