Apparatus for a heterogeneously catalysed reaction and process for its manufacturing

An apparatus for carrying out reactions with heterogeneous catalysis by forcing a suitable reaction mixture under a pressure drop through a stack (20) of thin, compressed catalyst layers (10, 10') of large surface area. The layers have educt and product ducts (12, 16), end plates, with feed and/or discharge pipe(s) connected to ducts, and an edge seal (20) at the edge or on the surface running across the direction of the stack of each layer. Independent claims are also included for methods of producing the edge seal.
