Durably wettable liquid pervious webs prepared using a radiation curing process

Disclosed is a durably wettable, liquid pervious web that is particularly suitable as a topsheet for absorbent articles such as baby and adult diapers and feminine hygiene products. The wettable web is derived from a polymeric film or nonwoven to which is applied a thin organic material on at least one surface of the starting web. The thin organic coating is in the form of a polymer and is obtained by radiation-induced curing of a polymerizable compound, preferably a di-functional acrylate.
