PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for correcting errors of optical disks, particularly appropriate for correcting errors of high-density disks. SOLUTION: According to the method for correcting errors, a parity for correcting inner codes and outer codes is added to an error-correcting block of an (nxmxo) byte size. In this case, the method includes a step of segmenting the error-correcting block to a plurality of data groups, i.e., (x) data groups ((x) is an integer of at least two or larger) in an inner code direction, thereby obtaining a plurality of inner code parity blocks (PI blocks), a step of generating an inner code parity for every (e) bytes to each of the plurality of PI blocks generated by the segmentation, and of adding the inner code parities in the inner code direction, and a step of generating an outer code parity (PO) of (f) bytes in an outer code parity direction of the error-correcting block having the inner code parities added thereto, and of adding the outer code parties in an outer code direction.
