IMAGE PICKUP DEVICE AND SECURITY SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device that can eliminate the need for a lightness detection means and can be downsized with a reduced manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: The image pickup device is configured with an image pickup means 11 which picks up an image of an object, a signal processing means 12 which generates a video signal from an output signal of the image pickup means 11, an average luminance value calculation means 13 which calculates an average luminance of the video signal, and a lightness control means 21 which controls amplification/attenuation of the luminance signal of the video signal on the basis of the comparison result between the average luminance and a reference luminance value and also with a video changeover means 22 which replaces the video signal with a black/white video signal on the basis of the comparison result between the average luminance and the reference luminance value.
