PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for measuring the height of the inner surface of a face panel which enables the face panel to be mounted surely in a locator. SOLUTION: A panel receptacle table 34 is sunk, in the condition with the side end face 22b of a face panel 22 being supported by a plurality of buffer mechanisms 2 consisting of the combination of a rotor 3 and resilient pieces 5 and 7, and the face panel 22 is located in fine movement generated by the buffer mechanisms 2, and a stud pin 33 is inserted in a recess 36 provided in a locator 36.
