PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head having high adhesiveness and a manufacturing method therefor by improving wettability between a nonmagnetic substrate and adhesive glass even when an adhesive glass layer adhering a metallic magnetic layer to the nonmagnetic substrate is thick. SOLUTION: A substrate layer 12 which is made of crystallized glass thinner than the adhesive glass layer 3 or is made of a kind among Al2O3, SiO2, Cr or the like, is provided between the nonmagnetic substrate 2 and the adhesive glass layer 3. The substrate layer 12 is formed on the nonmagnetic substrate 2 by a vapor growth method such as sputtering and vapor deposition. Therefore wettability between the adhesive glass layer 3 and the nonmagnetic substrate 2 is improved to strengthen adhesiveness to the adhesive glass and consequently peeling from an adhering part can be prevented at the time of mechanical processing in a magnetic head manufacturing process.
